Guru Poornima
means paying homage to dedicated Guru
(spiritual master) and to honor win. It
falls on the full moon day in the month of
Aashada (July - August). What does word Guru
Poornima mean?
Who can be a
guru?
One who
inspires and guides us on to the Path of God
-realization and separates from illusion
(Maya) is a true guru. He is said to be a
representative of God.
Respect for a
Guru.
Carry/obey
his/her orders, commands wishes.
Please him /
her.
Should
surrender completely in to him/her
Respect him by
speech, action and mind.
Origin
It was started
by disciples of Bhagwan Veda Vyasa.
Disciples/students of Vyasji visited him
ceremoniously on the day of Ashad Sud Poonam.
Veda Vyasa, the author to 18 poor Ana
including Bhagwat Geeta and Shrimad
Bhagwatam and many others. Since them this
day is celebrated with great respect of
one’s guru.
Who can be a
Guru ?
One who
suppresses the action of Maya’s gun’s (
illusion quality), the indriyas (senses) the
antakaran (inner illusion) etc. but he
himself does not get suppressed by their
action, who engages in activities related to
God, strictly observes 5 Vartmans (vows)
believes him self as Brahm (perfect soul)
and worship God. Therefore such a sadhu can

Why need of a
Guru.
It is said
that one cannot make any advancement, no
matter how brilliant one is to be a perfect
soul a Guru.
Serving a Guru
When a sisya
associates with sant (Guru) then regardless
of any habit (swabhav) that he may posses he
eradicates it and if he/she behaves
according to the Sant’s will, order and
command (G.A.P.27)
